Itinerary:
2009 Project Peru Itinerary
Objectives along the Amazon River:
Build a medical clinic addition
Perform maintenance work on the two schools that we built in '05 & '07
Add two libraries in the schools
Provide another well
2/14/09 – Saturday - Leave WUHS on Vermont Transit at 5:00AM for Boston. Depart Boston at 11:10AM on Continental Airlines, arriving in Lima around 10:50PM Immigration check. Welcome reception at airport. Layover at airport.
2/15/09 – Sunday – Am departure from Lima to Iquitos. Transfer by buses through Iquitos and board a boat, traveling onto Cumaceba Lodge on the Amazon. In the afternoon there will be a visit to the village of San Juan de Huashalado.
2/16/09 – Monday - Service projects. B,L,D included, Cumaceba Lodge

Special Note: There will be other experiences and activities during the work projects. They include: swimming, day and night jungle walks, fishing, canoeing, market shopping in Iquitos, visit the Yagua Indians and experience a local wildlife center (hands on opportunities). In Iquitos, there will be a trip to the floating town, a tour of the markets and a visit to an orphanage. In addition, there will be several opportunities to play in volleyball and soccer matches.

2/26/09 – Thursday AM, breakfast – Clinic dedication.- Travel to Iquitos/Lima/Cusco
Overnight hotel accommodations in Cusco. Dinner included.
3/27/09 – Friday – Travel by train to Machu Picchu and experience one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Overnight accommodations in Cusco. Dinner included.
3/28/09 – Saturday – AM visit a local market for souvenirs. In the afternoon, fly back to Lima. Farewell dinner. Travel by bus to Lima International Airport
3/01/09 – Sunday – Depart Lima at 12:35AM, arriving in Boston around 3:30PM. Return to WUHS between 6:30 and 7: PM.
